Opening of the exhibition »Dreams in proportion 1:18« in Adria Mobil

Gedl

On March 21st, Adria Mobil opened an exhibition of the internationally recognized industrial designer Georg Gedl, who has been an essential part of the Adria Mobil’s design team since 1994. The exhibition is a display of how the process of designing a caravan or motorhome progresses towards the end product and also we can see the author’s vision for tomorrow - s design in the caravanning sector.

The exhibition portrays the rich creative opus of the industrial designer Georg Gedl, who already reached international recognition a in the year 1969, when the Swiss automobile magazine Automobil Revue published some of his concept drawings and this was how he got his first job as a designer in Audi at Ingoldstadt. His greatest wish in that period was to get into BMW. This dream came true in the spring of 1971. At BMW he gained a lot of practical knowledge as a pioneer. A few years later, in 1975, he decided to take a challenge in the role of a holiday caravan designer, so he arrived in Novo mesto, where he took a position in IMV (Industry of Motor Vehicles), where he remained seven years. From 1983 to 1987 he worked for TAM (Automobile Factory Maribor), where he collaborated in the project of designing a tourist bus, which is one of the biggest achievements of his career. The project was exhibited at two important events in 1984 - at the International Car Exhibition in Frankfurt and at the International Biennial of Industrial Design in Ljubljana (Slovenia).

In 1987 he became a freelancer and the Ministry of Culture gave him the status freelance industrial designer. His most important projects from 1987 to 1994 were: designing the Yugoslav high velocity train (consignee: TVT Maribor, Slovenia), reshaping the Renault 4 vehicle (consignee: IMV, Slovenia), designing the Microstar minibus (consignee: Ernst Auwärter, Germany), designing the joint loader BULL-2, which was exhibited at the International Biennial of Industrial Design in Ljubljana in 1994 (consignee: Strojegradnja Trbovlje, Slovenia) and designing the electrical airport tug (consignee: Spijkstaal Elektro, Holland). In 1994 he became Adria Mobil’s external collaborator (having been invited by Mr. Stanislav Lukšič) and even today he is still passionately creating new models together with the Adria team. He has been involved in many different projects - from designing caravan and motorhome interior equipment to exterior and graphics design. His first major Adria Mobil project was designing a brand new caravan generation, called Adiva, which was the basis for the later redesigning of other caravan series. His biggest project in Adria Mobil is definitely designing the integrated motorhome called Vision, which was first introduced by the company at the largest European caravanning exhibition in Düsseldorf.
