The Industry of Motor Vehicles (IMV)

The Industry of Motor Vehicles (IMV), predecessor of present ADRIA MOBIL, began to manufacture a delivery van of its own construction in 1960. The move into the making of caravans was the consequence of new trends, which initiated a new way of spending free time in Western Europe and Scandinavia. The parts of the under frame and bodywork were developed at the company, while the furniture was designed with the help of foreign experts. The result of this joint work was the design for the prototype of the ADRIA 375 caravan. At the end of August 1965, a new model of the caravan designed for the European market was presented in Stockholm. Interest was incredible.

Because of the great popularity of the ADRIA 375, IMV decided to prepare the first prototype for the Swedish market. It was finished incredibly fast - in two months. OPATIJA (small egg) was her name. OPATIJA at the exhibition in Stockholm.Adria caravans market slogan was: »A light and well equipped caravan for a reasonable price«.In the year 1966 we started with the development of new caravans, different by size and inside layout. We used our experiences with the first two models ADRIA 375 in OPATIJA in the development. The new caravans were less complicated to produce and more attractive for the market.
Several prototypes that were different by size and inside layout also had differences in outside shape, furniture elements and chassis elements. The goal of the project was to make a uniform outside shape.
