Follow Adria Ambassador, Jakov Fak at Pokljuka Biathlon World Championship February 9-21

Biathlon is a special sport, a sport of dynamics, speed, accuracy and a bit of luck! It’s unpredictable and demanding, with a passionate fan base and following in many countries. There are few more demanding sports as it combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, as a race, with contestants skiing through a cross-country trail whose distance is divided into shooting rounds.

Pokljuka is the centre for biathletes in Slovenia and this month hosts the IBU World Championships. Sitting at a height of 1,100 to 1,400m in the stunning Julian Alps the area is known for its forests, mountain pastures and winter sports.  https://www.pokljuka2021.si/en/home/

Here you will regularly see Adria World-Class Partner, Jakov Fak training, practicing and competing, with his Sonic Supreme parked up as part basecamp, part training hub and part warm place to relax.

The event has been heavily promoted during last season, when the Biathlon TourMobile (Adria Sonic) visited some of the most famous biathlon races around Europe.

Jakov Fak was born in Croatia and competing for Slovenia since 2010. As a member of the Croatian biathlon team, Fak won bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and at the 2010 Winter Olympics

In 2010, Fak switched his citizenship and started competing for Slovenia. With the Slovenian team, Fak won four medals at the World Championships, including two gold, and a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics

In addition, Fak has eight past victories in the World Cup and right now he’s back, in a hot run of form too. Commenting on his return to the podium last month, Jakov said

“ I'm very happy to make the podium. It was quite difficult after the Olympic season. Two seasons without the podium, it was quite hard to be motivated, to stay dedicated to biathlon & training. It is always hard to get on the podium on World Cup level, especially with the big teams & nations who have big technology behind the scene & produce a lot of athletes on a high level. Still, I work hard & believe in myself.’’
