The fleet of Adria motorhomes heads off to Saudi Arabia with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team to tackle the most extreme adventure of all – the Dakar Rally.
Dakar 2020 is the 42nd edition of the Dakar, the world’s most extreme endurance rally, has moved from its recent home in South America to Saudi, the kingdom of sand. The rally starts in Jeddah on 5th January 2020 and concludes 12 stages later in Qiddiyah, near the capital Riyadh.
This Dakar will be extreme, with close to 7,900km and over 5,000km of special stages. In addition to sand dunes (lots of them) the Dakar route will take the crews through endless tracks where navigation will be critical.
The official entry list incudes over 350 vehicles, 170 motorbikes and quads, 134 cars and 47 trucks. Adria motorhomes will perform their annual task of supporting the KTM team of motorcycle riders in search of their 19th Dakar title.
Crucially this Dakar will do what Dakar does best, pitting amateurs up against professional factory teams, with new road books and new marathon stages to reduce the gaps between competitors.
In 2019 KTM’s Toby Price won the Dakar Rally with Matthias Walkner and Sam Sunderland rounding out the final podium positions with Price securing KTM their 18th consecutive victory at the iconic event.
In January, leading the challenge alongside Toby will be previous winners Brit Sam Sunderland and Austrian Matthias Walkner, plus Argentinian, Luciano Benavides.
Competing against the elements for Adria will be a Matrix Supreme 670 SC, a Coral XL Plus 600 DP and Axess 670 DK and a Sonic Plus 700SL. These regular, straight off the production line Adria vehicles, once again will provide mobile support and accommodation for the riders and team as they tackle the Arabian peninsula.
