100% Peru. 100% Dakar. 100% Adria Quality.

KTM it seems can do no wrong when it comes to the Dakar Rally. January 17th 2019 and KTM win their 18th consecutive rally, with Australian Toby Price romping home in first place. Price was considered an underdog owing to a broken bone suffered just before Dakar but like a true champion, pushed on to the end, winning his second Dakar.

It was an ultra-competitive race with five different manufacturers winning stages.

Final Standings:
1st Toby Price (KTM)
2nd Matthias Walkner (KTM)
3rd Sam Sunderland (KTM)

Price commented at the final podium “Wow, this feels amazing. At the start I thought to myself I’d be lucky to finish day one! The whole crew do such an amazing job, all the support team, everything tuned to perfection”.

This year’s race which was all held in Peru included the most ever desert stages and the conditions were brutal. Everything is tested to extremes, including the fleet of Adria motorhomes which are a key part of the support operation. The standard production Matrix and Sonic motorhomes, come straight off the Adria production line with just an extra set of spare tyres and a few other consumables, actually drive ahead of the KTM rider at each stage to set up a nightly basecamp.

They have to navigate all kinds of tracks and bad conditions, though fortunately not the sand dunes, and cover several thousand kilometres of very hard driving. At basecamp they are set up to act as a place to sleep, wash and refresh for the riders when they finish the stage. The motorhomes also provide some calm space for planning the next day’s ride and to escape the glare of the media during this much watched rally.

Red Bull KTM Team Manager, Jordi Viladoms, himself a former Dakar competitor, commented:

“The Adria motorhomes make a big difference to our performance and are a key part of the operation. The riders and crew get some rest, give us a mobile basecamp and again, in this years’ rally suffered no problems or crashes! Like the whole KTM team they performed at 100%.”
